SUMMARY ACTIVITY REPORT

The 17th ASEAN – JAPAN FRIENDSHIP ASSOCIATION (AJAFA 21)

REGIONAL LEADERS FORUM (RLF)

NOVEMBER 15 – 19, 2011, YOGYAKARTA, INDONESIA

The 17th AJAFA 21 REGIONAL LEADERS FORUM, formerly known as Youth Camp, hold on November 15 – 19, 2011 in Yogyakarta City, Indonesia. 8 ASEAN countries (Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam) + Japan were participating in this event, 61 delegations were involved in this activity. Total 25 members of Organizing Committee consist of 10 members are National Committee and Local Committee members from Yogyakarta province, 15 members are volunteers from University students in Yogyakarta. Some of the participants were arrived in Yogyakarta on November 14 and most participants were arrived in November 15, 2011.

Day 1, November 15 : after check in at the hotel Amaris Yogyakarta, some of the participants were sightseeing and exploring Yogyakarta city by walking or using Becak (pedicab ; three wheels vehicle without engine, operate by a man on behind), then having a “friendship dinner” at the hotel on the evening and next continuing with briefing for the agenda tomorrow and submitting registration fee.

Day 2, November 16 : after breakfast at the hotel, all of the delegates were moving from hotel Amaris to hotel Inna Garuda by using Andong (the horse-drawn carriage) for the opening cermony, the agenda in the opening ceremony are :

- Introduction from all of the delegates.

- Singing National Anthem ; Indonesia Raya.

- Speech from Chairman of AJAFA 21.

- Speech from President of KAPPIJA 21.

- Speech from JICA representative.

- Speech from Board of Tourism and Cultural representative of Yogyakarta province.

- Opening speech from the Government representative of Yogyakarta city then officially open by hitting the Gong.

- Giving presentation/souvenir to the honourable guest.

- Photo session with the honourable guest and all of the delegates

- Coffee break and enjoying gamelan performance

- Keynote speech from Senior of KAPPIJA 21 who works at The House of Representative of The Republic of Indonesia about the Importance of friendship in ASEAN countries with Japan.

- Country report from each countries about the heritage and culture in their countries.

- Enjoying and sightseeing walk at Malioboro street.

- Dinner at Bale Bengong (Bali traditional cuisine).

Day 3, November 17 : after breakfast at the hotel, all of the delegates moved to SMA 3 Yogyakarta for tree planting activity, they were enjoyed and satisfied with the vocal group performance by the students. After photo session with the teacher and the students, all of the delegates moved to Kotagede for visit Silvercraft place, Kotagede formerly is the central of Ngayogyakarto Sultanate. After that, they moved to Sukunan Village for learning recycle garbage, Sukunan Village is JICA project for recycle garbage project.

Next, all delegates moved for lunch at Prambanan restaurant, then they were enjoying Prambanan temple, the most popular Hindu temple in Indonesia. In the evening all of the delegates were having dinner at Prambanan restaurant then watching Ramayana dance and the story of Rama and Shinta. They were satisfied with the show.

Day 4, November 18 : after breakfast at the hotel, all of delegates visited Kraton Yogyakarta (Sultan Palace) and Tamansari (garden and pool for the consort) then moved for lunch at Manohara restaurant (next to Borobudur temple) and visited Borobudur temple (one of the seven wonder, Buddhist temple and one of the world heritage by UNESCO).

After enjoying Borobudur temple, all of the delegates were moving back to the hotel for closing ceremony preparation. The agenda of closing ceremony are :

Day 5, November 19 : all of the participants were going back to their country

- The end of the program -
